What this does
A set of small, predictable cleanups for pasted text. Pick an operation, adjust its options, and copy or download the result. Use “Use as input” to chain several in a row.
Operations
- Trim whitespace from the whole text or from every line, on either or both sides.
- Normalize whitespace turns non-breaking and other Unicode spaces into plain spaces, collapses repeated spaces (keeping indentation), trims lines, and limits how many blank lines can follow each other.
- Tabs to spaces expands tabs to the next tab stop, either only in the indentation or everywhere. Spaces to tabs converts leading spaces; it never touches spaces in the middle of a line.
- Remove accents strips combining diacritics (é to e) and can transliterate letters that do not decompose, such as ß to ss, ø to o, and æ to ae. Scripts that use combining marks as part of the letters, such as Devanagari, are left alone.
- Slugify makes URL-friendly slugs, one per line. See the Slug Generator page.
- Reverse characters (by grapheme, so emoji and accented letters stay intact), word order, or line order.
- Convert line endings between LF, CRLF, and CR. See the Line Ending Converter page.
Example
“Normalize whitespace” turns Too many spaces followed by four blank lines intoToo many spaces followed by one blank line, with no trailing spaces.
