Snowflake ID Decoder and Generator

Decode Twitter/X, Discord, and Instagram Snowflake IDs, or define a custom epoch and bit layout to decode and generate your own.

What this does

Snowflake IDs pack a creation time and a few worker fields into one 64-bit integer. Pick a layout, paste an ID, and see the timestamp and every field. Switch to Generate to create IDs for the same layout.

Layouts

  • Twitter / X: 1 unused bit, 41 timestamp bits (epoch 2010-11-04T01:42:54.657Z), 5 datacenter, 5 worker, 12 sequence.
  • Discord: 42 timestamp bits (epoch 2015-01-01T00:00:00Z), 5 worker, 5 process, 12 increment.
  • Instagram: 41 timestamp bits (epoch 2011-08-24T21:07:01.721Z), 13 shard, 10 sequence.
  • Custom: set your own epoch in milliseconds, timestamp width, and any list of named fields. The total must be 64 bits or fewer.

Example

Discord ID 175928847299117063 was created at 2016-04-30T11:18:25.796Zby worker 1, process 0, increment 7. Editing any layout value switches the preset to Custom.

How generation works

The sequence field counts up within one millisecond. When it runs out, the timestamp moves forward by one millisecond instead of waiting, so a batch is always unique and increasing. IDs are accepted as decimal or 0x hex and decoded with exact 64-bit arithmetic, so large values never lose precision.
