What this does
Generate random strings from the character sets you choose: lowercase, uppercase, digits, symbols, or any extra characters you type. Set the length and how many strings you want, up to 4096 characters each and 1000 strings at a time. The tool also shows the entropy of each string so you know how hard it is to guess.
How the randomness works
Every character comes from crypto.getRandomValues. Picking a character with random % size favours the first few characters whenever the size does not divide the random range evenly. This tool rejects the uneven tail and draws again, so every character is exactly equally likely.
Options
- Exclude ambiguous characters (
I l 1 | O 0 o) for strings people will read aloud or retype. - Duplicate characters in the extra field are ignored, so repeating a letter does not weight it.
- Emoji and other non-BMP characters work as single characters.
