What this does
Converts JSON escape sequences back into real characters: \n becomes a line break, \" a quote, \\ a backslash, and \u00e9 or a surrogate pair such as \ud83c\udf89 the character it encodes.
Paste text with or without its surrounding double quotes. Anything that is not an escape sequence is passed through untouched.
Errors
An invalid escape, such as \q or a \u without four hex digits, is reported with its line and column instead of being guessed at. Single-character escapes JSON does not define (like \') are rejected for the same reason.
To decode a whole escaped JSON document into structured JSON, use Parse Stringified JSON.
Example
Input:
"Line one\nLine \"two\"\nCaf\u00e9"
Result:
Line one Line "two" Café
